“Since the past 16 years, fitness has been my passion & hobby. It challenges my creativity, keeps me engaged and helps people get fit and healthy. I keep reinventing & upskilling myself because that’s what attracts clients.”
I was never interested in typical nine-to-five job scenarios. However, fitness has been my passion and hobby. It challenges my creativity, keeps me engaged and helps people get fit and healthy. Hence, I started my own studio, Moving Body Aerobic, and since the past 16 years I have been consistent and committed to my work with the same passion and aggressiveness. Marketing was through my students about my classes, and it grew big through word of mouth. A couple of years after I started Moving Body, I became a brand. Learning is endless. Upgrading skills is a must for all professions. I travel around the globe constantly to attend fitness conventions/workshops and to get certified or specialize in a domain. I get to meet interesting people to network with and that is enriching.
I certified as an Aerobics Instructor and it started with taking one Aerobic class a day. I was always passionate and driven and that made way to my fitness column in Deccan Herald. That was just the beginning. I have written for Bangalore Mirror, DNA, Bangalore Times, Deccan chronicle, VK and Udayavani. Along came television and radio again – all channels and stations covered us. These improved our social media presence as well. Currently, I live stream fitness classes for GOQii app and I am the only fitness professional from South India.
I have viewers, leaders, listeners and online followers. My fitness journey is lengthy as the possibilities are endless. I had started as an aerobics instructor 16 years ago. I was passionate, involved and loved my job. I found it very interesting and during my certifications, I learnt that we need to exercise because they provide immense benefits and not just weight-loss. I went on to do many more fitness certifications after that and there was no stopping me. Aerobics instructor, fitness columnist, author of the book ‘You Have An Excuse, I Have An Exercise’, media presenter for fitness on radio and television, giving quotes about fitness on leading publications and magazines across India, fitness course provider, motivational speaker, global coach for GOQii, health food under my name, teaching aerobics at an NGO and inmates of Parappana Agrahara jail as social work – today I have a diversified role as a freelancer fitness coach.
And, that is only because of my discipline and motivation during my early career. I have explored many verticals and even my trainers in India and abroad are proud of me. I keep reinventing myself and walking the talk, because that is what gets me more clients. My will to constant up-skill myself has made me successful in this male dominated industry. If you are good at your job, it gets you all that you want – name, fame, money and the feel good factor which comes from being able to help someone lose weight and get fit.
