“The journey from an aspiring law student to a model and actress has been a great learning experience. “

I am a qualified software engineer and a lawyer, but my real passion has always been acting. I received my first assignment in college for an ad commercial, and since then I have never looked back. The journey from an aspiring law student to a model and actress has been a great learning experience. I had scored decent grades, and I experienced the corporate life during my long internship hours. But like I said, acting has always been my true calling. Freelancers work on assignment based tasks. When you complete on task, you move on to the next and then to the next. Acting is also an assignment based profession, but it can also keep you busy from nine to five.

These assignments could be several months long or short- daily TV shows are longer but films and web-series are shorter. Landing a good gig is never easy because of the steep competition in this industry.

I am married and have a family. My industry is in Mumbai, while my home is in Delhi. And I often have to hop between cities for auditions and work. Sometimes I get stuck in Mumbai while pitching for work. Thus, work-life balance often becomes an issue. But I do not let it affect my opportunities. Business has become fast paced and I am always careful to choose assignments with good content because they receive more importance. My future gigs are in anchoring and acting in small movies. These small movies are often driven by good emotional content. So I do them one at a time so I remain invested in those projects. Because when you are emotionally connected to your work, it fuels your spirit of working as a freelancer and drives you to learn and perform your best every day.
